Internships

Internships allow students to earn academic credit while experiencing work in the world outside the university.  Avery Point students have access to a wide array of internship options, many of which complement the marine and maritime focus of academic programs on campus.  Internships involve on-site supervision that provides valuable professional training, plus academic oversight to help students connect their experiences to the curriculum.  Examples of internship sites include museums such as Mystic Seaport; local regulatory organizations such as the Groton Shellfish Commission; governmental institutions such as the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary; and non-profits such as Niantic Main Street.
