Honors Program

The Avery Point Honors Program offers intellectually-gifted and highly motivated students an enhanced undergraduate education.  This junior/senior program is designed for enthusiastic and energetic majors at Avery Point who seek extensive discussion with faculty, more individualized attention, participation in a scholarly community, and research opportunities.  The program is research-oriented rather than classroom-based.  Honors students are introduced to research through the work of faculty mentors and equipped with research skills and experience in the first year of the program.  They then embark on individual research projects, many of which draw on the marine and maritime strengths of the campus.   These rewarding and enriching intellectual experiences provide a bridge for students to the world beyond the university and help them realize their potential to pursue their interests and to serve society.   For more information about the University of Connecticut Honors program, visit their website at http://www.honors.uconn.edu/.
