Avery Point Alumni

Evan McOmberAvery Point alumni find themselves at work in a variety of settings. Two recent graduates of the Maritime Studies program have followed their love of the water to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science.

Jameson Gregg and Evan McOmber both work for the Fisheries Science Department at VIMS as Laboratory Specialists putting the knowledge and skills they learned at Avery Point to work. VIMS is part of William & Mary and has " a three-part mission to conduct interdisciplinary research in coastal ocean and estuarine science, educate students and citizens, and provide advisory service to policy makers, industry, and the public."

Jameson GreggRecent Avery Point BGS alumni Rachel Armstrong, Vivianne Hage, and Stacey Warwick were accepted to the Master's Entry into Nursing (MbEIN) - Accelerated Pre-Licensure Program. This program is designed for those with a bachelor's degree in a non-nursing field. The MbEIN program from initial entry through the completion of Master's degree level takes approximately three years. Upon the successful completion of the one-year MbEIN program, the student is awarded a certificate in basic nursing and is eligible to take the NCLEX (the RN licensure exam). Those who compete the program with 45 credits at a B grade or better are guaranteed admission to the Graduate School for further study.

Melissa Castro-Holland graduated with a BGS degree from Avery Point last year and was accepted by UConn's Modern and Classical Languages Department. She has been working on her Master's Degree in Spanish and is currently teaching Elementary Spanish I and Intermediate Spanish I at the Avery Point Campus this Fall.

We encourage other Avery Point alumni to continue to be involved with the campus and to share their stories with us.
